“I miss her every day.” A partnership that started in 2016, and one that’s almost as strong as the one between Lewis Hamilton and Roscoe, ended before the Saudi Arabian GP this season. As Formula 1 was heading to its second race of 2023, Hamilton’s long-time physical trainer, his confidant, Angela Cullen, announced her departure from the seven-time champion’s team. As heartbreaking as the split was for both of them, Cullen felt she needed to embark on her next adventure. Since then, Hamilton has been walking into the paddock without anyone by his side, which feels oddly weird. That’s how much of an impression Cullen made during her seven years working with Hamilton.

Considering how big a role they played in each other’s lives, their off-track relationship is strong as ever. They even occasionally take Roscoe on walks, with an impending skydiving trip on the cards as well. Despite their time apart, they’re almost constants in each other’s lives, supporting each other every chance they get. That support extends to dropping a comment on each other’s Instagram posts every now and then.

In the final leg of the summer break, Hamilton headed to Cappadocia, Turkey. It’s the beautiful land of “fairy chimneys,” cone-shaped rock formations, and hot-air balloons, one of which Hamilton was captured on. In a montage of pictures Hamilton posted on Instagram, captioning it, “(Re)start as you mean to go on 🤙🏾,” the seven-time champion is seen enjoying his time off with some friends.

Seeing the pictures, Cullen commented, “Cappadocia 🤍,” pointing to the fact that not only has she been there before but also loves the place. While this may not seem like support per se, it’s probably their way of checking in and looking out for each other. Although they’ve not been working together for the past few months, Cullen hasn’t missed the opportunity to show her support for Hamilton whenever she could.

Lewis Hamilton will always have Angela Cullen in his corner

The past couple of seasons have been tough for Hamilton. After fighting at the front almost throughout his career, he had to accept that Mercedes didn’t get the 2022 regulations right. Considering his last win came at the 2021 Saudi Arabian GP, Cullen wanted to remind him to have hope by posting a picture from their good old days.

Before the Hungarian GP, she posted a picture with Hamilton from 2016—their first season together—on her Instagram story and captioned it, “Throwback 2016. A Moment in Time.” Two days later, Hamilton achieved a record-extending 104th pole position, and Cullen couldn’t pass up the opportunity to congratulate him. She posted a picture of Hamilton sitting on the pole position block and wrote, “Boom, mega job!”
