The world of Formula 1 was shaken to its core when Lewis Hamilton, the most successful driver in the sport, decided to join Ferrari, the most iconic team in the sport. The move was a huge success for Ferrari straight away, as evident by the enormous rise in the Italian manufacturer’s market evaluation. What’s more, Tifosi, the loyal fanbase of the Scuderia, was also extremely happy to see Lewis Hamilton be a part of the Ferrari family. And now, Lewis has given the Tifosi yet another reason to be happy about.

In a recent exclusive interview with GQ, Hamilton shared insights about his life in extensive detail. During one of the segments, he was discussing his fondness for racing movies, as he himself is a co-producer for an upcoming project with Brad Pitt.

And when he was asked about Michael Mann’s recent movie, Ferrari, a mammoth $95 Million project released in 2023, his response was extremely positive, much to the delight of the Tifosi.

I loved it, Lewis told GQ Sports. One, because Ferrari is Ferrari. And envisioning when they arrive at the factory, seeing some of the history. The racing was nuts back then. The cars were so dangerous. Could I look at it and say this could be done better? Of course. Capturing racing is really, really difficult, and I don’t think anyone’s been able to really capture it in a way that brings the adrenaline you have as a racing driver. But I think it’s one of the best they’ve done.

Speaking of movies, Hamilton’s interest goes far beyond just being a producer. He wants to appear on the big screen himself, but memories of the past still haunt him.

Lewis Hamilton still regrets declining a role alongside Tom Cruise

Lewis Hamilton once had a chance to feature in a movie alongside Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise. It all started over a dinner conversation with Cruise when Hamilton expressed his eagerness to be part of a potential Top Gun sequel, even offering to play a janitor if needed. A role would have been a big deal for Hamilton, who had often dreamed of stepping into the world of Hollywood.

When “Top Gun: Maverick” was in production, Hamilton received an invitation to join the cast. However, his packed racing schedule forced him to decline the opportunity.

Hamilton expressed his disappointment to GQ, admitting that he hadn’t even taken an acting lesson and didn’t want to let the movie down. He recalled the moment he had to inform Cruise, “I just really didn’t have the time to dedicate to it. I remember having to tell [Joseph Kosinski] and Tom—and it broke my heart. And then I regretted it, naturally, when they showed me the movie and it’s: It could’ve been me!”
