Formula 1 cars represent the pinnacle of motorsport technology and innovation achieved by human beings. They are the instruments that allow F1 drivers to fight for the ultimate racing glory. But are they merely the means to an end? Mankind has always been fascinated with automobiles, regardless of the number of wheels on them. If it goes fast, it becomes an emotion. Sebastian Vettel took that feeling to a whole different level. Throughout his career, the German driver gave a unique female name to each of his challengers. And now we know that Lewis Hamilton also likes to name his cars, but for a completely different reason.

Sebastian Vettel’s choice to give his cars a name stems from his belief that F1 cars are quite ‘beautiful,’ making the female name a more suitable choice for the 4-time world champion. The tradition began during his first full Formula One season with Toro Rosso in 2008. Until 2020, all of his cars except Suzie (in 2014) and Margherita (in 2016) had tasted victories on the track. With names like Luscious Liz, Kinky Kylie, and Hungry Heidi, each moniker adds a touch of Vettel’s personality to his cars, showcasing his playful and creative side.

The AMR22, Aston Martin‘s 2022 Challenger, remains the only car Vettel did not give a name to. However, we recently got to know the name of one of Lewis Hamilton’s cars. It takes its name from one of his favorite Hollywood films, Cool Runnings.

Lewis Hamilton’s love for animals, especially dogs, led him to spend time with some special dogs who had tough beginnings in life. The cute dogs also helped Lewis answer some of the fan questions.

One question was about Lewis naming his cars. Lewis explained that he doesn’t take naming his cars seriously, but he once did name his car. Just as a joke, I called my car Tullulah, which was the name from one of my favorite movies which is Cool Runnings.

Even back in the day, Hamilton has often spoken about his love for Hollywood and his desire to act as well. He even got an offer to play a part in ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ alongside Tom Cruise, but his Formula 1 duties made him turn the offer down. The 7-time world champion is also involved as a director in an upcoming Hollywood project based on F1 called ‘Apex’ starring Brad Pitt.

Hamilton says championship battles with Vettel were the most enjoyable

Lewis Hamilton has gone up against some of the best drivers on the grid whenever he competes for championships. From Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen, and Nico Rosberg in his early championships to Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen in his later ones, Sebastian Vettel, however, remained constant in both of those times. He fought Vettel early in his career in 2010 and then again in 2017 and 2018.

Sebastian Vettel beat Lewis and Alonso in 2010 to claim his first title. Hamilton got the better of him in the other two. In 2017, Hamilton won the championship by 46 points and registered nine wins compared to Vettel’s five. In 2018, the Brit extended both his championship advantage and the number of wins. He won by almost double the margin, with a gap of 88 championship points, and registered 11 wins compared to Vettel’s 5.
