The Japanese Grand Prix is like a festival of motorsport. The fans, the atmosphere, and most importantly, the wealth of driving talent that the sport has to offer every single year. All of it adds up to a spectacle that only the Japanese GP can live up to. Arguably, the greatest protagonist this sport has ever seen, Lewis Hamilton will be the star attraction when the flying circus of Formula 1 travels to Suzuka City this weekend. And he has a reveal or two to look forward to as the race weekend approaches.
Last year, the 7x champion, followed in the footsteps of his dear friend and fierce rival, Sebastian Vettel, to unveil a special helmet for the race. Back in 2022, Formula1.com reported, “Hamilton has recently been collaborating with Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami for a limited-edition collection from the seven-time world champions +44 clothing brand. And the two have incorporated their design on his new-look helmet, featuring Murakami’s trademark colourful flower around a smiling emoji character.” So, is Hamilton going to do the double and partner up with the iconic Japanese artist to bestow us with yet another gem?

Hamilton was quoted as saying about the collaboration, “I’m such a fan of @hajimesorayamaofficial’s work. It’s truly groundbreaking and challenges reality in such a cool way.” So, what can the fans expect out of the worlds of art and motor racing colliding?
HYPEBEAST reported, “Serving as the duo’s first collaboration, the collection dubbed “Man vs. Machine” draws inspiration from the superrealism of Sorayama’s iconic humanoid robot graphics. The offering is made up of 15 pieces including short and long sleeve tees, hoodies, and a jacket.”
Last time around when Hamilton announced his collaboration with Murakami, we got a spectacular lid design to go with it. Will things be the same this time, too?

There is a lot suggesting that Hamilton may have a special Sorayama-inspired helmet design coming our way this weekend. For one, in 2022, when Hamilton unveiled his collection with Murakami, it was directly followed by that brilliantly vibrant and upbeat lid revamp. This week, the Brit has decided to launch his latest collaboration on the day of Friday practice. All the signs are pointing at a new helmet design for the Brit at the 2023 Japanese GP.
