Third month into the year and we can’t seem to get past the wave of controversies. On this occasion, we’re talking about an alleged incident that put F1’s power couple Toto and Susie Wolff under investigation. The same investigation that the FIA initiated for illegal and questionable sharing of information between the couple who hold important positions in the sport. However, the FIA quickly dismissed the investigation due to lack of evidence but not without making a lot of noise. This noise, despite the lack of inquiry, still hurt and dampened the image of the Wolffs and now Susie Wolff, the F1 Academy director is taking action against the FIA and she has the full support of Lewis Hamilton.

The Mercedes man spoke in support of an old friend and boss’s wife ahead of the upcoming Australian GP. He expressed his disgust with the message the sport has recently sent out and how it is about time someone takes a stand for the women in the sport. He expressed his appreciation toward Susie for taking this stand and hopes it will spark change.

He shared this opinion during the Australian GP press conference and said, “Hopefully, this stand that [Susie Wolff] is taking now will create change, will have a positive impact, and especially for women.”

“It is still a male-dominated sport, and we’re living in a time where the message is ‘if you file a complaint, you will be fired’, and that is a terrible narrative to be projecting to the world, especially when we’re talking about inclusivity here in the sport. We need to make sure we stay true to the core values,” he added.

Hamilton has been a champion of diversity for quite some time now. Now, he’s supporting his close ally to spark more change. Let’s hope the F1 Academy director can use her influence to bring out some positive change and help F1’s current broken image and if we’re to believe Toto Wolff’s statement, we will see a change because of his wife’s determination.

Toto Wolff reveals his wife’s determination to get justice against the unfair trial

Even if Toto and Susie Wolff weren’t put on trial and made to question their alleged actions, the suggestion and the two-day internal but public investigation did a lot of damage. The news spread like wildfire in the world of F1 and everyone was talking about it. Once such accusations are levied, no matter the verdict, people form an opinion and start acting on behalf of their opinion, no matter how misinformed it is, we’re already seeing examples of it in the Red Bull camp. So even though they weren’t investigated and the FIA apologized, Toto Wolff has assured the world his wife will fight back and make the perpetrators pay.

In an interview, Toto Wolff said, “The investigation – opened and closed in two days – has done a lot of damage, and it’s not what you expect from the F1 world in general. I can’t speak for Susie but she is a fighter. She has a steely determination. This is not the first time she has faced difficulties, and she will go all the way in every court of law. If someone types Susie Wolff on the web today, the investigation comes up as the first news item. The bullet went out of the gun and cannot come back in.”

Now, with the support of his husband and Hamilton, we might just see Susie Wolff give the FIA a run for their money for dragging their name in the mud.
