Massa suggests that he would’ve been the champion in 2008 had Crashgate not happened or the investigation had been done properly. Massa is believed to be asking for compensation and a change of result. However, Frederic Vasseur advised how the circumstances back then were exceptional and explained that it would be weird to change the result for the 2008 championship.

And maybe that…I don’t know, I don’t want to comment but it sure would be weird to change something. I’m not a big fan of changing the outcome of a race even 15 minutes after the checkered flag. Felipe Massa earlier had a lead witness. However, that lead witness has now retracted his comments and suggested that he didn’t say anything that could’ve become the basis of a court case. 

Bernie Ecclestone shocks Felipe Massa by retracting his statement.

Felipe Massa’s case was based on Bernie Ecclestone suggesting that FIA and F1 knew about the crashgate before the season ended. And that FIA chose to not investigate the issue before the end of the season. However, the F1 megalomaniac has now retracted his comments. Sources suggest that Bernie Ecclestone told Reuters,  “I don’t remember any of this, to be honest. I don’t remember giving the interview for sure.”
