It is the speculation around his Mercedes contract, the Ferrari transfer rumor, and Felipe Massa’s attempt to strip Hamilton of his 2008 title. As Felipe Massa makes his weird claim against Lewis Hamilton, Frederic Vasseur stands up for the 7X champion despite the brutal rejection. What did the Ferrari honcho say?

Lewis Hamilton is believed to have shaken hands with Toto Wolff on his future Mercedes contract. However, it was speculated that both John Elkann and Frederic Vasseur contracted Hamilton regarding a Ferrari future but the Briton denied the offer and stayed loyal to Mercedes. Whilst all this was going on, Felipe Massa decided to file a suit against the governing body FIA regarding the crashgate incident from 2008.

Massa suggests that he would’ve been the champion in 2008 had Crashgate not happened or the investigation had been done properly. Massa is believed to be asking for compensation and a change of result. However, Frederic Vasseur advised how the circumstances back then were exceptional and explained that it would be weird to change the result for the 2008 championship.

According to motorsport.nextgen-auto, Frederic Vasseur said, “But more generally, and not about Felipe, I think we are also trying to push the FIA ​​to know the final result of the checkered flag event. And maybe that…I don’t know, I don’t want to comment but it sure would be weird to change something. I’m not a big fan of changing the outcome of a race even 15 minutes after the checkered flag. Felipe Massa earlier had a lead witness. However, that lead witness has now retracted his comments and suggested that he didn’t say anything that could’ve become the basis of a court case.

Felipe Massa’s case was based on Bernie Ecclestone suggesting that FIA and F1 knew about the crashgate before the season ended. And that FIA chose to not investigate the issue before the end of the season. However, the F1 megalomaniac has now retracted his comments. Sources suggest that Bernie Ecclestone told Reuters,  “I don’t remember any of this, to be honest. I don’t remember giving the interview for sure.”

And two of the people who knew the most Mosley and Whiting, they’re both no longer with us so they can’t extrapolate on what actually was known and what wasn’t known”
