Thanks to Lewis Hamilton, the entire world of Formula 1 is just talking about one thing. However, today we want to discuss the repercussions of his sensational move to Ferrari in 2025. The Brit truly took the world by surprise including the man who he will be replacing, Carlos Sainz. This is exactly why some former F1 legends are expressing their sympathy towards Sainz and discontentment toward Ferrari for Sainz’s treatment.
We understand why Ferrari jumped on the opportunity to sign Hamilton with his reputation preceding himself and the markets proving that. However, this still doesn’t give the Italian team the right to treat Sainz the way they did. Despite being on the same footing as his teammate, Sainz was left stranded by his team as he found out about his future through the media. This is exactly why former Ferrari legend Jean Alesi expressed his regret toward Sainz’s treatment by Ferrari in his column at Corriere della Sera, quoted by SoyMotor.
“I will say that it is great that Lewis arrives at Ferrari, even though I feel very sorry for Carlos Sainz. His attitude and performance in recent years has been more than positive, I would say even surprising. Results, competitiveness, and discipline, strong and fair,” he wrote. (Translated via Google)

“A true gentleman of motor sports who at this moment finds himself in an uncomfortable and undeserved situation. I am convinced that he will take on new opportunities to continue on the grid seeing his talent and also the prestige he has accumulated by racing alongside Leclerc,” he added.
We can’t help but agree with Alesi as a little respect and a warning in advance would’ve not left him in such a vulnerable position. In fact, Alesi isn’t the only one, Ferrari’s treatment of Sainz has angered a few other F1 entities as well.
F1 legend slams Ferrari for their treatment of Carlos Sainz
Another Frenchman who was part of the circus has sympathized with Sainz in the form of Rene Arnoux. Arnoux is among the many who felt angered by Ferrari’s ill-treatment of the Spaniard. Arnoux blasted the Italian team for humiliating Sainz despite him being the only race winner in 2023, apart from a Red Bull driver.

His overall performance was also on par with his teammate and the treatment was uncalled for, to put it subtly. However, Arnoux did not put it subtly when he expressed his discontentment to the media.
He said, “I find it very wrong, it’s something that greatly embarrasses Sainz. Taking a slap like this at the start of the season won’t do him any good and who knows if he’ll be able to repeat an exploit like in Singapore. If a team had done something like that to me, I would ‘I would have taken it very, very badly.”
