There is only one constant in Formula 1 and that is change. It might take two or three or sometimes even 10 years but there is always change. The change that, sadly for them, Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton are experiencing since 2022. This switch started in 2021 with a miniscule margin. However, now the Brackley outfit is nowhere near where they want to be.  Although heading into the 2024 season, there is a genuine sense of excitement among the Mercedes men.

There is no surprise the German team absolutely fumbled the 2022 regulations and subsequently their 2022 challenger. Sadly, because of the budget constraints, the modifications to the W13 yielded not enough positive results. However, heading into the new season, Mercedes’s technical director James Allison has made an exciting announcement.

The 2023 season made one thing abundantly clear, there is no time frame for impactful upgrades. Aston Martin at the start of the season and McLaren right before the summer break proved that with their astonishing upgrade packages that propelled them to the top. Speaking to the media as highlighted by @fiagirly on Twitter (now X), Allison painted a similar picture for his team.

“I feel like all of us have a pretty clear-sighted view of what we want to do with the car,” confessed Allison.

“This championship, while we haven’t made the really impressive progress that McLaren have, we have nevertheless been charting a path through the season that gives us a very clear idea of what we need to put right. So that makes next year very exciting to look forward to and this period of the year extremely enjoyable,” he concluded.

Allison has come out and given the Mercedes drivers hope on multiple occasions. However, so far the Brackley outfit is yet to close the gap to their no.1 rival Red Bull.

Despite the last two seasons Lewis Hamilton’s faith in his team unwavering

Despite wanting to fight with Red Bull in every race, the 2023 Japanese GP once again highlighted how McLaren has pushed Mercedes back in the pecking order. The Woking outfit caught every team on the grid napping and made an incredible jump.

However, this scenario can be true for any team on the grid and Hamilton believes Mercedes comes under the same category. After the disappointing race in Suzuka, Hamilton took to Instagram to share some words of motivation for his team.
