Ferrari may very well be the final destination in the illustrious career of Lewis Hamilton, but his loyalties lie with Mercedes for now. And while that is undoubtedly good news for Frederic Vasseur and his team, Hamilton will do everything he can to beat his future team in 2024.

According to Marca.com, the streaming platform DAZN kicks off a brand-new season of ‘True Driver’- a series about the inner workings of F1. The debut episode takes a deep dive into the sensational move of Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari. Aptly titled ‘The Signing of the Century,’ this episode also captured Toto Wolff‘s thoughts about Hamilton. He said, “I completely understand the reasoning. He needs a new challenge, was looking for a change of scenery, and perhaps, this might be his last opportunity.” It’s a sentiment that resonates deeply with Hamilton, who admits, “When the opportunity arose, I seized it. Every driver wonders what it would be like to pilot the red car.”

Hamilton’s switch to Ferrari was beneficial to the latter as well. The 7-time world champion took the Formula world by storm by deciding to switch to the Italian manufacturer in 2025, giving them an enormous boost of around $20 billion in their share price while still being at Mercedes. This was revealed by Alan Jones in a discussion with ‘The Herald Sun’. “Okay, it was good because when he signed for Ferrari their share price just went up by about $20 billion or something,” he said.

However, Hamilton will not go easy on his future team while he is still at Mercedes. He said, My goal is to beat Ferrari this year, and next season, it’ll be the other way around… An opportunity arose, and I didn’t let it slip away. All of us drivers sat in the garage and wondered what it would be like to drive the red car,” he added.

But, for people who have followed Hamilton’s F1 career, his switch to Ferrari was not as surprising. Having started his career with McLaren, people were in a similar state of disbelief as they are now when he left McLaren for Mercedes in 2013. People weren’t sure about his move; especially because Mercedes had won just one race since its return to Formula 1 in 2010. But Hamilton’s judgment turned out right when he started showcasing the biggest wins of his career after the switch. Hence, many believe the driver will show similar potential with Ferrari. After all, it adds to the competitive intrigue.

Having said that, Hamilton won 6 of his 7 world titles with the Silver Arrows. Thus, he still believes that Mercedes is a very strong team and will undoubtedly win many world championships in the future.

Lewis Hamilton will forever feel proud for having been a part of the Mercedes team

In a recent report from Formula 1, Hamilton expressed his unwavering confidence in Mercedes, stating that he firmly believes the team will reclaim championship glory in the future. He also clarified that his decision to go to Ferrari was not influenced by doubts regarding Mercedes’ ability to secure another title.

“I’m excited about this year, and I know this team is going to win another championship and I will be proud to know that I’ve been a part of it,” said the 39-year-old. Hamilton has achieved so much during his time at Mercedes and has built a strong bond with everyone back at the factory in Brackley.

“It’s an incredible group of people and it’s really well run. Mercedes has such an incredible history and, from the board down, they are ultimately really heavily invested in racing and in so many areas, regardless whether or not this is a championship-winning car.”
