Formula 1’s intent of hosting the Las Vegas GP was to bring in new fans to the sport. Las Vegas is all about the high life, the glitz, and the glamour. And so is F1. So, why not bring those two together and create an experience everyone would remember? That’s precisely what Sin City did, and guess what? Whether or not new fans came into the sport, the weekend sure helped establish that a certain fashion mogul has always been and will always be a part of the Lewis Hamilton Army. Who is it? Donatella Versace.
Who knew the Italian designer—who inherited the Versace brand from her brother in 1997, amassing a net worth of $400 million over the years—was a Formula 1 fan? Better yet, who knew she supported Hamilton? We sure didn’t, but she made it abundantly clear with a recent Instagram post.

Lewis Hamilton may not be the undisputed GOAT of F1 for many, but he sure is the undisputed fashion diva of the grid. Every race weekend, you can count on the seven-time champion to stride into the paddock wearing nothing short of a style statement. Following the weekend in Vegas—where Hamilton drove a great recovery race—it looks like he’s stayed in Sin City because Donatella Versace just dropped Hamilton sporting Versace in Vegas.

The fashion designer posted a couple of pictures of the seven-time champion wearing a custom-made Versace jacket after the Las Vegas GP weekend. The red and black jacket had “Versace and the fabulous Lewis Hamilton” written exactly like the “Welcome to the fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada” sign. Along with that, it had elements so characteristically Hamilton—the Union Jack and a chequered flag with 44 written on it. The caption for the post read, “A true Versace man: Bold, fearless and with amazing style. I looooove that jacket on you, @lewishamilton. Always on your team! 💜”
Donatella Versace being a Hamilton fan sure is a revelation. But the Versace name in relation to Hamilton is no stranger to the paddock. Earlier this year, at the Italian GP, Hamilton wore Versace as he entered Monza on Saturday for qualifying. As he rocked both Versace outfits, could Hamilton have asked for any higher praise than being called bold, fearless, and stylish by Donatella Versace herself? Who knows? This could be the push the 38-year-old needs to kickstart what could be his life post-retirement.

Hamilton could look at a career in fashion after F1
Hamilton already has a ton of connections in the fashion industry. Remember how Donatella Versace invited him to the launch of her collaboration with popstar Dua Lipa earlier this year? Or the fact that his ‘brother-from-another-mother’ Pharrell Williams is the Creative Director of Louis Vuitton? He’s also a brand ambassador for Tommy Hilfiger, sporting the American designer’s designs almost every race weekend, even collaborating with him often.

Considering all this, stepping into the fashion industry after F1 may be something he might think about. Fashion is something that’s close to his heart. It’s one of the many things that defines him outside the racetrack. With this in mind, F1 mogul Eddie Jordan gave his thoughts on Hamilton’s post-retirement life. On the TalkSPORT podcast, Jordan said, “Hamilton is at a time in his life where he has achieved such greatness, with dignity, with style, and with integrity, that everything he decides to try his hand at, from music to fashion, takes on a certain importance.”
