On the 1st of February 2023, many of us woke up and thought that April Fools had come a couple of months early. First the breaking news of Andretti’s F1 bid being denied by the Formula 1 Management, and now Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari. Seems a lot to digest, doesn’t it? Yet, some had enough brain cells left to scan and conspire theories relating to the two events.
Andretti had been trying to enter F1 as the 11th team for the better part of a year, as F1 and FIA kept delaying the confirmation of approval. Unfortunately for Andretti, earlier today, news broke out that F1 has denied Andretti entry into F1 for at least the foreseeable future. Many questions were raised by the fans regarding the rejection and even Andretti themselves were surprised. The backlash from the fans was unimaginable.
But just hours later, it was rumored that Lewis Hamilton was going to sign for Ferrari. Within minutes of that, it was confirmed that Hamilton had already put the pen to paper and signed the contract. But amid all of this, fans seem to have forgotten about what happened with Andretti. All the focus has shifted completely towards Lewis Hamilton and what Mercedes are going to say about the same.

Is this some news that the F1 insiders had already been aware of and was just revealed recently so that the attention is diverted from the Andretti news? A lot of the signs suggest so. Mercedes hasn’t posted Hamilton in the last 2 days on Instagram. They also just posted a photo of Schumacher and Rosberg today while the burning topic of Hamilton to Ferrari was going on. What does it mean? Let’s see what the fans are saying.
“A Purposeful Distraction”: The Conspiracy theory behind Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari move
FIA received massive backlash from the fans last year when Toto Wolff and Susie Wolff were accused of a potential conflict of interest. A similar-sized backlash was set F1’s way after Andretti’s bid was rejected. However, the convenient timing of the breaking news regarding Hamilton’s Ferrari move caught the fans’ eyes. Many propose that it was a distraction from the Andretti rejection in an attempt to avoid a major backlash. The fans Tweeted:
Ok the lewis rumour was fun while it lasted. Nice distraction from the Andretti debacle. But it makes no sense. Next pleaseeeepic.twitter.com/eN275KeSS5

I’ve come to the conclusion that the Lewis to Ferrari rumor is a psyop to distract from all the negative attention from the Andretti rejection. Who better to involve than the face of the series with Lewis and two top teams, who were both likely involved in the rejection

Only once the official team announcement is made will we know whether it was a distraction or has Hamilton actually left the Mercedes stable and signed with Ferrari.
