But it’s not just his skills that push him to win; the technical director of Mercedes, James Allison, states that the need to win every single time haunts Hamilton.

The seven-time world champion currently leads the championship with 94 points. And the Brit aims to keep that momentum going that will see him lift the eighth title of his career. He won the Spanish Grand Prix and will aim to do the same in the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix coming up this weekend.

In a recent episode of the podcast, F1 Nation, host Tom Clarkson divulged the details of the chat he had with James Allison. “He was fascinated about Lewis Hamilton and his desire to win. He described Lewis as being “haunted” by the need to win.”

Keeping in mind the kind of achievements the Knight has, this isn’t too much of a stretch. He’s broken record after record, and the Mercedes driver even equaled Michael Schumacher’s record last year. Now, he’s looking to clinch his eighth world title, a record that will catapult him to the front of F1’s history books.

Ricciardo backs Lewis Hamilton to win the title this year

It’s not often that you see drivers saying that their rivals will win the title, but the entire paddock is well aware how good Lewis is. And Daniel Ricciardo is no different. Hence, he thinks that Hamilton will lift the title at the end of the season.

As quoted by Planet F1, Ricciardo said, “He’s getting it dished back at him by Max, but is holding his ground and showing people who doubted him why he is what he is and why he is as good as he is.”
