The season hasn’t been great so far for the Silver Arrows. The eight-times constructor’s champions are visibly struggling and fans have a hard time accepting it. Even though Mercedes has two podiums this season, their performance so far is far from ideal.

The Mercedes fans seem to be quite disappointed with the way their favorite team has performed. There were huge flows of criticism on the social media sites of the Mercedes AMG F1 team. However, the team responded to the criticism brilliantly with “Feel better soon.” Among all the negative responses, the Silver Arrows got many positive ones as well.

The latest Emilia Romagna Grand Prix added salt to the wound for Silver Arrows. The Brackley-based team yet again failed to put themselves up on top. As things stand, pole position is a distant dream for the German team as they finished the Friday Qualifying in P11 and P13.
Even though Mercedes are at P2 in Constructor’s Championship, that’s not the position they want to be in. With Red Bull lurking just 10 points behind, they’re 39 points adrift leaders Ferrari.
What made fans stay upset at Mercedes in Imola?
The last time Mercedes picked up the pole was back in the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix with Lewis Hamilton. Coming to the 2022 season, the Silver Arrows have mostly been the third-fastest team on the third. In Italy, the situation has gone down even more. The rain-drenched Q2 made both the Mercedes withdraw from their final flying lap.

This qualifying result prompted the defending Constructor’s Champions to lose the streak of 187 races of Q3 appearances. The last time both the Mercedes cars were out of Q1 was in Japan in 2012 with Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher. Hamilton survived a scare when he saved himself by four-thousandth of a second in Q1 against AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda.

Although, the German team still got time for amendment in the Sprint race tomorrow. It’ll be interesting to see if both George Russell and Lewis Hamilton can pick up the pace and grab some better positions to start the race on Sunday.
