He has won more races and championships than any other driver in Formula 1, but Lewis Hamilton is not done yet. The 36-year-old, who has been spotted with Colombian pop star Shakira, is ready to reveal his plans for the next season and beyond. Will he stay with Mercedes, the team that has dominated the sport for the last eight years, or will he shock the world with a surprise move?
Hamilton is now set to sign a new deal that will secure his future in the sport. He will be hoping to end his winless streak at this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix, where he could also announce his new deal with Mercedes – or may create waves with an unpredictable move.

Wolff, who spoke to CNBC’s Squawk on the Street program, said, “It is going to happen soon, and we are talking more days than weeks. We are trying hard. I will see him today and maybe we will talk about it. We have such a good relationship that we dread the moment that we need to talk about money.”

Mercedes is not willing to let Lewis Hamilton go without a fight. The German team is reportedly gearing up to destroy Ferrari’s offer to sign the brit legend by a whopping $63 million, a huge $14 million plus of the Italians. Hamilton, whose contract with Mercedes expires at the end of this season, has been linked with a sensational move to the Italian outfit, which is desperate to end its title drought.
According to Mail Sport, Ferrari has been preparing to offer Hamilton a contract worth in the region of $56 million to tempt him into swapping Brackley for Maranello. The deal would be spearheaded by Ferrari’s president John Elkann, who is said to be in “close contact” with Hamilton.
Hamilton stands his ground with Mercedes and wishes to stay further
Lewis Hamilton is not only a racing legend but also a loyal one. The 38-year-old has been with Mercedes since 2013 and has never raced for any other brand than Mercedes since then. He joined the team along with his friend and boss, Toto Wolff, who has been instrumental in convincing him to stay.

Lewis Hamilton recently made his loyalty clear when he stated, “We have not lost so much, but we have only made wrong decisions, and now we are working to change direction. The team has worked a lot since Bahrain for the updates, and the cancellation of Imola was a disappointment because it didn’t allow me to test them. My team is in discussions with Mercedes for the contract, but Ferrari hasn’t looked for me.”
Mercedes expresses confidence that they will strike the deal but is loath to say when, as the negotiations still need some ironing out. The sticking point is that Mercedes only offered a one-year extension to his current deal, which expires in December. However, they’ve now resolved that matter by presenting a new multi-year deal, which is worth around $63 million a year to Hamilton, who turns 39 in January.
