The Brit might have shared some misery with Leclerc, however, by the end of the current season he wants to be the reason behind the Monegasque and his team’s misery. How? Simply by being ahead of them in the constructor’s championship standings. Mercedes currently leads the Italian team by 22 points. Hamilton wishes to end the season in the same position exacting revenge for 2022 as he makes the P2 finish the sole focus for the season.

Hamilton expressed this agenda while speaking to the media after the Japanese GP. He said, “Our ultimate goal is to try and get ahead of the Ferraris and that’s what my goal was today. It’s to beat the Ferraris in the constructor’s championship. That’s all that matters. We’re not fighting for a driver’s position in the championship because firstly we’re not close and secondly we’re not fighting for the championship so. Now it’s about just getting the maximum points for the team. I think that’s what we did here.”
