“We still have unfinished business,” said Lewis Hamilton after re-signing with Mercedes last year. However, that didn’t age well as the Brit will be on his way to Maranello as soon as the 2024 season comes to an end. By the looks of it, the unfinished business has a new meaning to it, as the 7X champ is reportedly aiming to heist engineers away from Toto Wolff’s stable and take them to Ferrari with himself.
Loic Serra, Mercedes’ Performance Director, announced his departure last year and will be leaving the team in a couple of weeks to serve his gardening leave. Asper reports, Serra will join Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari at the end of the current year. It seems Frederic Vasseur is on a roll in terms of recruitment and shuffling to make Ferrari great again. And Hamilton might just be a part of his plan.
When a figure as big as Lewis Hamilton leaves after more than a decade with the team, people within the team are likely to have doubts. Hence, it is of the most essence for Toto Wolff to make sure to retain his employees during this time of instability. having said that, Peter Bonnington is already rumored to leave Mercedes with Hamilton, but there might be others in line as well. Lewis Hamilton doesn’t want to leave anything to chance and is reportedly going to take some trusted figures to Ferrari.

According to Motorsport, who quotes British Voices, “The seven-time world champion is preparing his arrival at Ferrari in a meticulous way: he does not want to leave anything to chance, aware that he will not have much time to shape an environment in which he can feel at home as happened for many years before in McLaren and then in Mercedes. Lewis wants to know the way the Racing Department works and the people, so much so that he can’t rule out that some figure he trusts can be pulled away from Brackley.”
Loic Serra, on the other hand, is reportedly also working his part in trying to lure engineers away from other teams and make them sign for Ferrari. And it seems, Pierre Wache is one of them.

Loic Serra’s unsuccessful attempt to lure Pierre Wache away toward Ferrari
After Adrian Newey, Pierre Wache, the Technical Director at Red Bull, is arguably one of the most desired people that all the teams and people want. Amd Loic Serra is no different. Being good friends who worked together at Michelin and then BMW Sauber, Serra had reportedly made attempts to reunite with Wache at Ferrari. However, to the French engineer’s dismay, the Red Bull Technical Director stayed loyal to his team.
According to funoanalisitecnica.com, “Serra tried to act as an intermediary to convince his transalpine friend to follow him in the Ferrari adventure. However, the Red Bull coach is thinking about other plans.” But with the 2026 regulations coming in, Christian Horner wants Wache to take up a greater role at Red Bull, making the Red Bull job even more desirable.
