Scuderia Ferrari is the most successful Formula 1 team in the history of the sport. If you’re an F1 fan, you would already know the legacy the Red team holds. The fame and popularity of this team are so widespread that it’s synonym with the sport. However, things weren’t this flowery all the time. Like every other team, the Italian team has undergone huge ups and downs.

Ferrari F1 team principal Mattia Binotto recently opened up on the rise of the Maranello-based team. In the recent past, Ferrari has not been where they once used to be. They’ve been overshadowed by Mercedes and Red Bull for most of the time in the last decade. However, Binotto hinted that they followed Mercedes F1 work ethics to get back on top.

Mercedes has been one of the most successful teams of all time. Even though they’re just a mere shadow of what they were in the last season, that doesn’t rule out the fact that the German team is still a force to reckon with. But the question is, how did Mercedes help Ferrari to regain lost glory?

Binotto admitted that there has been a cultural change at the Ferrari camp, and they have now adopted a “no-blame culture”, which has also helped Mercedes reach where they stand today.

Talking further about this, the 52-year-old executive stated that Scuderia Ferrari “have employed more than 30 people from other teams, people who brought fresh ideas, new methodologies. The team is people, culture, tools, and methodology.”

“The car is simply the product of the team, starting in 2017 with a good base, but not with the right experience, skills, and tools. Since then, step by step going through 2019, 2020, we have got to where we are today.”. Currently, Ferrari stands in P2 in Constructor’s Championship, 36 points behind leaders Red Bull.

Who else is responsible for Ferrari’s insurgence?

According to BBC Sport, the Scuderia Ferrari top executive stated that the former Ferrari CEO had a big role to play in the insurgent of the team. Binotto conveyed, “Our CEO was Louis Camilleri and he had the vision to understand that what was most important was to give stability to the team.
