Mercedes F1 driver George Russell clarified all rumors regarding Lewis Hamilton’s ‘guinea pig’ avatar in Mercedes. In regard to the developments made to the car during the season, the new Mercedes debutant kept their positions clear. Moreover, the young Briton denied all sorts of reports that said Hamilton received more testing time as compared to him. Russell shared that he was happy with his role at Mercedes and didn’t feel less privileged.

Talking about this, the 24-year-old driver conveyed in a report published by GP Blog, “Whenever there was a development that came to the car, it would always be split evenly. One week it would be me, one week it would be him.”
Talking about this, the Silver Arrows driver stated, “Whenever there were test items brought to the track, it was shared evenly across us both. I think what he probably means is that he was a bit more extravagant with setup items.”

George Russell sees no reason to have conflicts with his veteran teammate Lewis Hamilton when the lights go out once again next year. Despite being a winless season for Hamilton and Russell picking up his first win and Mercedes’ only win in 2022; the 24-year-old nullified all rumors of any conflicts between them in 2023.

In a report published by Crash.net, Russell conveyed, “We’ve got no reason to have conflict. We have got a good relationship. We need to give each other respect, and I think we gave each other respect in Mexico, as an example.”
When the topic of conflicts comes between the drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg’s tenure as teammates always comes to someone’s mind. With his statements, the man from King’s Lynn confirmed that there will be no such repetition in the near future.

Having said that, the Brackley-based team still doesn’t have any driver preference as of now. During Bottas’ time, the differences were clear, but in this case, it’s still not. It’ll be interesting to see how the Silver Arrows manage the drivers and teammates to hold off each other when they take on each other for the win, week in and week out.
