Recently, former F1 team boss Eddie Jordan spoke about a variety of subjects. In conversation with Sport1, he spoke about the current state of affairs and its effect on F1. Jordan even opened up on reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton, and his future in the sport.

According to him, everything revolves around Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen. In other words, these three star drivers hold the key to the driver market. He said, “It’s all about Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen.”

For the moment, the biggest question is hanging over Sebastian Vettel’s head. His Ferrari contract ends in 2020 and some suggest that he is not too happy with the terms and conditions. So, a clear commitment from Ferrari to the four-time world champion is still missing.

Is a Lewis Hamilton-Ferrari move viable?

“Unlike Lewis Hamilton, I don’t know Vettel very well,” says Jordan, “but in my opinion he has no choice but to stop or switch to McLaren. The Ferrari train has long since left him.”

However, he firmly believes that Hamilton’s only option is Scuderia Ferrari. Jordan said, “Lewis will switch to Ferrari. Only the Italians can still afford his salary and they know that he is worth it. Verstappen will join Stay Red Bull and try to beat Lewis there, but it will be very difficult.”

Admittedly though, there is a question of whether either Hamilton or Leclerc will keep the peace for long. Although Ferrari may insist that the are encouraged to fight, how long until they impose team orders. When that happens, will either driver obey, no questions asked? Bear in mind that Lewis Hamilton has rarely been in a position where he is forced to play second fiddle, and the last time it happened, it didn’t end well.
