Formula 1 stars are known for stockpiling an exclusive car collection. Whenever an F1 star shrinks his car collection by selling one of them, fans from across the world are quick to lay their hands on such prized possessions. And when the car belongs to arguably the greatest ever, Michael Schumacher, it becomes an even more desirable and sought-after deal.
In this instance, 7-time F1 drivers’ champion Michael Schumacher’s Mercedes C63 AMG Estate was unloaded from his automotive garden. However, to everyone’s surprise, the exclusive car massively underperformed at the auction. Schumacher, being the most prolific figure in F1 history, goes all out to own his cars.
Notably, Schumacher’s 2002 championship-winning Ferrari F2002 remains the second-most expensive F1 car ever sold at auction, fetching a massive $6,643,750. At the zenith stands his Ferrari F2001 with a massive highest bid of $7,500,000 in 2017. The German legend has been away from social life after a skiing accident in 2013 but remains an icon and a beloved character in Motorsports.

In his illustrious career, he shattered every possible glass ceiling and became the poster boy of F1. It is natural that when his cars are up for sale; they attract the best in the business. However, it went a little south this time.

Mercedes owned by Michael Schumacher underperforms at auction
In a recent update, the Mercedes C63 AMG Estate of Michael Schumacher went under the hammer at Les Grandes Marques du Monde in Paris. It was a company car gifted to Schumacher upon his return to F1 with the Mercedes outfit. Schumacher drove for the team till 2012 before retiring for the last time.
As per sources, the car was estimated to be sold for up to $110,000 at the auction. However, that wasn’t the case, as the highest bid reached $31,600 [£23,350]. It would have been a usual amount for this car, but not justifying its illustrious previous owner. The 6.2-liter V8 engine exhibits 457 hp, making it one of the more powerful market cars.

It can reach the speed of 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, which is still pretty good although not the fastest out there, as Tesla Model X offers the same speed in 2.5 seconds. Whoever is getting the car for this amount has cracked an exceptional deal for this price.
