Mercedes has a deep history with F1, as they are not only one of the strongest F1 teams out there; but they are also the primary suppliers of safety and medical cars for F1. Furthermore, they will continue their alliance with F1, so they officially released the 2022 safety and medical cars.
Safety is one of the most important factors in this high-speed motorsport, Formula One. Therefore, the governing bodies want the best equipment for the sport to be safe for the cars and the drivers. One of the most important parts of F1 safety is the safety car and the medical car.
Mercedes has been the official safety car supplier since 1996 and the German team revealed the AMG GT Black Series as the Safety Car whereas, the AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC+ as the Medical Car for the 2022 season on their Twitter.

What’s new about the Mercedes Safety Cars?
Mercedes claims that the safety and medical cars should be powerful because they need to go out as soon as there is the necessity and even during tough weather conditions. Therefore, the Germans chose the AMG GT Black Series and the AMG GT 63 S for the purpose.

Furthermore, Mercedes claims they didn’t get rid of the powerful racing performance of the car. Even safety car driver Bernd Maylander felt these cars gave him feeling like driving a race car. Also, these medical and safety cars will don a red livery like the 2021 season. The safety car will also feature their sponsor Crowdstrike’s sticker. The safety car will have a new light system on its windscreen instead of the light bar on the roof.

Further, Mercedes won’t be the only supplier of safety and medical cars for the upcoming 2022 season. Because Aston Martin is also providing Aston Martin Vantage as the safety car whereas Aston Martin DBX SUV as the medical car. Fans will witness the Mercedes rescue cars in half of the 2022 season and Aston Martin in the other half.
