Remember the 2021 Grand Finale race at Abu Dhabi? In the next two months, it’ll be 2 years since that controversial decision of Former Race director Michael Masi where he snatched Lewis Hamilton’s dream to be an 8-time world champion. A Twitter clip went viral this morning where Toto Wolff was caught mocking the former director.

That night still pinches like a thorn in the heart of every Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes fan. The man to experience the disappointment from the paddock is no exception. At the final race, Michael Masi made a decision to let five lapped cars between championship contender Hamilton and Verstappen to overtake the safety car. This led Max Verstappen to pass for the lead and he eventually lifted up his first world championship.

Later, the former director was found guilty of the safety car and he had to face the wrath of the fans and heavy criticism. This wrong decision led FIA to sack Michael Masi from the position. Till today any topic regarding Masi’s remains a sore topic for Toto Wolff and is still is a fresh wound to him.

In a viral Twitter clip, the Mercedes boss is found mocking the former race director. When asked about Michael Masi’s controversial judgement, Wolff jokingly said, ” The Human Error or Error Human.”

Showing his disappointment with the decision which cost Lewis Hamilton his 8th world champion title, he said, “He changed the results that was meant to be. It would’ve made him 8 time world champion a greatest that has ever been.”

Michael Masi’s termination was a hot topic for days. While Some didn’t agree with his removal, many find it to be the right decision. Toto Wolff has even termed Masi a liability for the sport.

The 2021 season was tough for Mercedes, they constantly faced fierce battle from Red Bull’s racer Max Verstappen. Although the silver arrows won their 8th constructors’ championship, it was Hamilton’s defeat which was talk of the town for many days. The contrary decision from Mercedes’ view must have given many sleepless nights to the whole team.

Mercedes Boss, Toto Wolff even termed the former racing director as a liability to the sport. He said, “He was a liability for the sport because everybody kept talking about Abu Dhabi and the race director, and the race director should not be somebody that people talk about, but someone who does the job and makes sure the race is run according to the regulations.”
