Mercedes brought in George Russell this year to partner Hamilton. With him and Lewis spearheading the attack, Toto thinks they need to be taken in the right direction. However, he ruled out the possibility of having number one or two drivers in the team.
Talking about this, the 50-year-old boss conveyed, “We’ve never had a situation of one and two. They’ve had equal opportunities and the same car. This year, the interesting situation we have with George is an up-and-coming star, and undoubtedly, the best Formula 1 driver ever in the other seat.”
“The dynamic is new and clearly is something we will try steer in a direction that it has the most effect on developing the car and making us overall competitive.“, the Austrian international further asserted.
What’s in the tray for Mercedes this year?
George Russell has replaced Valtteri Bottas in 2022. Russell became the third driver post Hybrid era to partner Lewis Hamilton after Nico Rosberg and Valtteri. The much successful team has full faith in the young Briton’s talent to help them steer clear of Red Bull in the Constructor’s Championship.

As far as Lewis Hamilton is concerned, the seven times world champion will look to make his count to eight this time. The last-lap defeat to Max Verstappen still haunts the former McLaren man.
With Mercedes having Lewis and George to spearhead their attack and Toto to guide them all season, a ninth Constructor’s Championship might be on the tray.
