Ever since the British GP, no one has been happier than Lando Norris. The McLaren driver has been absolutely rapid and has gotten the opportunity to showcase his skills in the updated MCL60. Norris has already secured two podiums since the introduction of the upgrades. The Brit has outperformed his teammate Oscar Piastri as well. However, despite the final result, because of the gap between the two, McLaren CEO Zak Brown previously made a statement that would’ve been enough to piss Norris off. Now, Brown made another follow-up statement that exposes Norris’s biggest insecurities.
A few weeks ago, Brown was full of praise for the Australian rookie almost matching Norris’s time. However, Brown’s use of words could have a negative connotation for Norris. Building upon his already controversial statement while speaking to the media, as quoted by McLaren.com, Brown touched on a possible insecurity of Norris.
Lando has managed to outperform both his more experienced teammates at McLaren (Ricciardo & Sainz). However, the tides might be turning as the Brit is partnered with a highly-rated rookie in Piastri. At least that’s the understanding of the McLaren CEO.

“I think Lando now feels like he probably has another Lando as a team-mate and it’s going to push them both but in a very healthy way. They get along great,” said Brown.
Piastri is definitely subconsciously pushing the Brit as that’s exactly what every new teammate does. However, we wonder for how long that remains healthy as the two showcased two different sides of maturity after the Dutch GP.
McLaren’s new boy Oscar Piastri showcases more maturity while emulating the feeling of Lando Norris after the Dutch GP
The start of the Dutch GP was as chaotic as they came. The rain caused absolute havoc and changed the grid order from top to bottom. During this time, McLaren decided to keep Norris out for an extra lap which proved to be a wrong decision. This was apparent to Norris as he expressed on his radio during the decision-making process. However, his and Piastri’s response was poles apart.

He was quoted angrily as saying, “What the… Are you f**king stupid, mate?” Whereas his rookie teammate had a much calmer and more mature outlook on the scenario.
Piastri spoke up, too, and said, “I think there were maybe a few opportunities that we could have done a bit more with, also a couple of mistakes from my side that certainly didn’t help our cause.”
