Despite the apprehension and criticism toward the revamped Sprint weekend, one can’t deny the excitement this changed format brings to the sport. The Sprint weekends are action from the get-go and we have witnessed another brilliant start to a sprint weekend. So far, the Qatar GP has given us the most chaotic and unique scenarios from a qualifying session in the season so far. The starting grid changed not once, but twice after the chequered flag. The biggest losers from the session were the McLaren men. Both Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris suffered heartbreaking updates after the qualifying session. We are not sure about Norris, but his teammate took the updated result on his chin and the papaya army showcased their support for the Piastri’s reaction to the news.
Piastri went fourth fastest in qualifying but because of Norris’s time deletion for exceeding track limits, the rookie was promoted to P3. However, during his post-qualifying interview, the Australian was notified he was demoted to P6 after his track time was also deleted for the same reason as his teammate’s. When informed about his track time deletion, as seen in the interview, Piastri sarcastically said, “Ah, I didn’t know but this is fun isn’t it? Wonderful”
In fact, he carried the sarcasm off the air and onto social media as well with a cheeky dig on the FIA’s delayed judgment. The Australian tweeted a photo with him and the two front-row starters with the caption, “P1, 2 & 6 🤷♂️”.

We can clearly see Norris might not be happiest about the outcome but he’s not losing any sleep over it. The mature and confident rookie took the result on his chin and his tweet tells us he’s already moving past it with this hilarious dig.
In fact, the fans also loved Piastri’s reaction to this scenario and the papaya army came out to uplift his spirits and support the rookie.

The fans love confident racers who can take even the worst outcome on their chin and look forward to doing their talking on the track. Piastri showcased a perfect example of that with his subtle dig and the fans are all for it. A fan went as far as saying, that even though Piastri was demoted to P6, he cannot be silenced as his performances speak for themselves.
