Oscar Piastri, even before making a name for himself on the track in the premier class, gained a lot of popularity around the paddocks. Even before his debut, the young Aussie took a bold step and joined McLaren, leaving Alpine high and dry despite his best intentions. Piastri’s public handling of the situation embarrassed the entire Alpine team, which even led to a legal battle between the French team and McLaren. However, since then, all parties have moved on and gone about business as usual. In fact, Piastri, after his recent contract extension with the Woking outfit, even took a subtle hilarious dig at Alpine, referencing the old debacle. However, the Alpine admin did not just sit back and take it and give a fitting reply to Piastri’s announcement.

After his recent showing, since the Hungarian GP, Piastri proved the hype around him and earned respect from the entire world of F1. He monetized his performances as well with the Woking outfit offering the rookie a contract extension till 2026. To announce his extension Piastri took a subtle dig at Alpine with a tweet.

The tweet read, “Stress-free contract announcement like always 😉”

On this tweet, Alpine’s social media admin gave a salty response. The admin replied to Piastri’s tweet with a simple but famous gif of Homer Simpson disappearing in a bush. You know the one which most of us use to represent embarrassment?

The hilarious response would tell us it’s all in the past between the two F1 entities and a little banter never killed anybody. Although Piastri’s mom seems to think it just might. She could only focus on the negative of the contract extension, even if Zak Brown was full of praise for her son.

Zak Brown expresses his delight in extending the contract of Oscar Piastri, but his mother doesn’t share the same emotion

The rookie Australian’s contract extension has become comedic gold on social media. Apart from Piastri’s and Alpine’s banter, his mother also gave us something to laugh about. Soon after McLaren CEO Zak Brown expressed his delight in extending Piastri’s contract, where he said, “I’m delighted to be continuing our partnership with Oscar through to the end of 2026. He’s an incredible talent and an asset to the team, so it’s fantastic to be committing to each other in the long term.” Piastri’s mother took to Twitter (now X) to reveal her feelings (in a sarcastic sense) about the announcement.

The mother of the rookie Australian hilariously tweeted, “What!! So we are doing this for another 3 years??? 😩”

Most feel privileged to get the opportunity to become a part of the circus even if it’s for one year. However, a concerned mother can only hide her emotions so much and tweeted her real feelings about the extension and it’s absolutely hilarious.
