Coming into the Singapore GP weekend, McLaren wasn’t expected to be challenging for the Top 5. The Marina Bay Circuit and its slow characteristic didn’t suit the MCL60. That was before McLaren brought the upgrades to Norris’ car. A complete turnaround in the car’s performance. However, despite being content with the qualifying, Lando Norris advised Lewis Hamilton to be his target as he trashes a podium ambition. What did Norris say?

Lando Norris qualified a surprising P4 at the Singapore GP with Lewis Hamilton and both the Red Bulls behind him. The podium is just one place ahead of where Norris starts yet the Brit considers it to be a difficult task. The Ferraris and Mercedes have excellent long-run pace and one cannot discount the Red Bulls even if they’re starting outside the Top 10. As a result, Lando advises looking more in the mirrors at Lewis Hamilton behind him rather than the ones ahead of him.

According to @McLarenF1_News’ tweet, Lando Norris, during the post-qualifying interviews, while speaking with Sky Sports said, “The pace is there. Maybe not enough to compete against Ferrari, and also Mercedes’ pace is always very strong. To keep Lewis and some of the others behind me is probably the biggest task for me tomorrow”

Nonetheless, Lando Norris will be hopeful of having a strong race day as the new upgrades seem to help the MCL60 with the long-run pace at the Singapore GP as well. However, keeping Lewis Hamilton behind will surely be a task as Norris rightfully picked his target for the F1’s iconic night race. Hamilton on the other hand has his eyes fixed on the Ferrari’s ahead.

Lewis Hamilton doesn’t seem to be worried about staring behind the McLaren of Lando Norris. The Briton seems to be more focused on finishing on the podium and finding a way to get past the Ferrari. Both Mercedes and Ferrari along with Fernando Alonso looked very good on the long run pace during the FP2 session.
