There isn’t a more worthy successor of Daniel Ricciardo on the grid than his old teammate Lando Norris. Perhaps not in terms of racing, but definitely in terms of hilarious off-track antics. The Brit proved that once again, with an honest admission ahead of the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix, which left the fans in splits.

The Brit, while fulfilling his McLaren marketing duties, visited the mall and got his hands on a simulator. Being an F1 racer who has to spend time on the simulator, apart from his gaming hobby, it was a cakewalk for the Brit. Regardless, Lando Norris not only labeled the simulator a rip-off but also admitted to duping the mall setup of $140.

The Brit revealed how he got his hands on the simulator at the mall, which cost $65. However, the catch was that the person with the fastest time would receive $200 in return. The high price of $65 for one attempt felt like a rip-off to Norris. But with his racing prowess, for the Brit, it was like stealing candy from a child. However, trying to hide his identity, the Brit cheated with the name which he admitted as seen on X.

“In the mall, yesterday there was a simulator. It’s a rip-off, but you pay $65 and if you win you get $200. So my brother’s nearly $140 richer because I did it under his name, instead of mine!” Norris said and added, “I was 45s quicker than P2, so it was close.”

This admission sparked a huge laughter from the fans in attendance.

Right before the start of the summer break, and since then, no team has been as consistently second-best as McLaren. The Woking outfit truly turned the corner with their upgrade package and Norris has benefitted from it most. The Brit has added multiple podiums, with just one trophy casualty which might increase to two in Vegas, in his F1 tally since the upgrades, but former Red Bull man David Coulthard believes a win is not too far as well.

Coulthard said, “I think actually McLaren has turned the corner. I think they’re coming good again. Yes, he did commit a multi-year contract to them, he would be an asset for any Formula 1 team. So I’m sure, all of the other top teams are well aware of what his contractual terms are. But if they keep going the way they’re going right now, then I see Lando winning Grands Prix at McLaren.”
