Our poor Daniel Ricciardo can’t seem to catch a break. After McLaren put a question mark on his abilities behind a single-seated, life seemed to be back on “track” at AlphaTauri. The Australian was back to earning the much-needed respect when his replacement at the Woking outfit put a dent into his efforts. Oscar Piastri’s FP2 error proved more costly for Ricciardo. However, like all the setbacks he has suffered in the past year, Ricciardo is taking this one on the chin as well, and his old teammate and friend Lando Norris is there for him.
As we all know, Ricciardo broke his hand during the Dutch GP FP2 crash where he was trying to avoid Piastri. This incident has kept him out of action for one race already and he seems doubtful for the next two. Regardless of the setback, the Australian is mounting his comeback and putting in the hours at the gym.

Ricciardo showcased that with a couple of posts on Instagram and the fans are showering the determined Honey Badger with love. Norris is among those fans showering his old friend with love and showcasing his support during his recovery. The McLaren driver did so with a simple comment on Ricciardo’s post. The Brit put a simple hand-heart emoji on Ricciardo’s post.
The Brit is among many showcasing his support for Ricciardo’s speedy recovery. However, his post’s caption doesn’t seem to suggest the same as he captioned it, “Relatively unchanged”. However, he looked in high spirits.
In fact, the man responsible for his accident also was thankful for his evasive maneuver.

The veteran Australian might have been responsible for a lot of hate unleashed toward Piastri and not just because of incidents at Zandvoort. However, the two do not relate to this feeling of contempt towards each other that the fans feel. Ricciardo showcased that with his statement wishing Piastri luck for his time in F1. Piastri reciprocated the same with his statement after the crash in Zandvoort.
Speaking to the media, the rookie Australian thanked Ricciardo for sacrificing himself instead of crashing into him. Piastri said, “I don’t know what would’ve happened in the crash but… obviously if you’re coming into that corner, it’s blind [inaudible] so maybe he saw me too late and turned to the wall instead of into me, so if he did, thank you.”
