The Monza weekend was filled with excitement and unexpected moments. However none more captivating than the growing rivalry between Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. The aftermath of the race has paved the way for an intriguing chapter in Formula 1, marked by the pursuit of karma which has been triggered by Lando Norris’s fateful misstep. The lingering inquiries are captivating, the first being how Norris unintentionally transformed Monza into the epicenter of his rivalry with Piastri. A quick glance at the stats reveals Norris’s growth. In his first season with both Sainz and Ricciardo, Norris closely contested in points. However, his second season showcased significant improvement. In 2020, Norris trailed Carlos Sainz by just 8 points, while in his second season with Ricciardo, he outshone the “Honey Badger” by amassing more than three times the points.

And if we talk of the Monza incident, characterized by Lando Norris inadvertently colliding with Oscar Piastri, it certainly has initiated a new chapter. The Birt’s response aimed to downplay the collision at the first corner, labeling it as an “unfortunate incident”  has now become the pivotal moment in their rivalry.

However, what might give headaches to the 23-year-old is Piastri’s skills as he has already been acknowledged by numerous experts and even praised by Lando Norris himself, and continues to receive accolades. According to a post by @TheMclarenZone, Timo Glock claims that Oscar Piastri can be the one putting Norris under pressure a feat which the Briton’s ex-teammates failed to achieve.  The tweet read, Timo Glock believes Oscar Piastri can put Lando Norris under ‘a bit of pressure’ compared to what Carlos Sainz and Daniel Ricciardo did.”

Formula 1 has reached its midway point, and among the three highly anticipated rookies, only one has truly made a mark, and that’s Oscar Piastri. Both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have trailed the season leader, Max Verstappen. While Norris is working to bridge the gap, the younger McLaren rookie briefly outperformed the double champion at the Belgian GP sprint, earning Zak Brown’s recognition as a future champion.

Observing the qualifying session at the Spa Franchorchamps, Glock has voiced his backing for the F2 champion. As per GP Blog, the German racer has wagered on Oscar Piastri defeating Max Verstappen at some point in the future. He said, For a rookie driving in Formula 1 for the first time at Spa-Francorchamps, it was very impressive. In qualifying, he is on par with Lando Norris.. In the future, he will definitely be someone who will convince with talent and who can put pressure on Max Verstappen if given the right opportunities.”

Although the rookie still has eight races remaining in this season, he has already made a significant impression on the F1 community.
