A Williams faster than the McLaren – What a sight to behold. Williams has been the slowest car on the grid in the last few years. Despite that, both the McLarens could not make it past Alex Albon’s FW45 till the end of the race. After the end of the dissatisfying race, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri looked very disappointed. But the no-so-good thing about their attitude was that they looked like they had accepted their ill fate.

It was a considerable step ahead for McLaren as both drivers started in the top 10 in Canada. Norris started P7 and rookie teammate, Piastri, started P8. But that did not help them as both drivers slid out of the Top 10 by the end of the race. Norris actually finished P9, but owing to a 5-second penalty was pushed to P13. Though fans felt that the 5-second penalty was a harsh one, they slammed McLaren for a poor showing.

In a video that McLaren shared on their Twitter page, the drivers shared their views and broke down the difficulties during the race. Despite a pointless outing for McLaren, they decided to look at the positives. But for fans, the positives looked made up because nothing had actually gone their way in Montreal. In the video shared on Twitter, both drivers said that it was a “shame that they did not score points.”

While fans understood Norris’ views, they were quick to dish out criticism at CEO Zak Brown and McLaren.

Fans Sympathize with Lando Norris But Slam Zak Brown and McLaren

Team Principal Andrea Stella felt that the team was competitive, but luck was not on their side. After the race, he said “It’s a shame to leave Canada with no points at the end of a race where we were keenly competitive in the midfield. Lando crossed the line P9 but was penalized five seconds and demoted to P13, which is unfortunate.”

But no such comments helped as fans wanted Brown to take accountability for the horrendous season. While a few fans sympathized with Norris, the overall theme of responses was McLaren being a “Dumpster fire of a team.”

McLaren has 2 drivers that are champion-material, but neither of them is able to even score decent points. The team has only 17 points after 8 races. But McLaren’s stakeholders still believe that they are getting better. And their next opportunity to show progress is the Austrian GP.
