With no racing action for the foreseeable future, Formula One fans, drivers and teams are extremely bored. To help alleviate some of it, Formula One is streaming classic races on YouTube. Meanwhile, the teams have other ideas to keep themselves and their fans entertained. One such team is the McLaren F1 team, and they are turning back the clock for this.

They recently released a short video clip, depicting life at McLaren if they were a TV show from the 80s. Granted, the 80s, brought several great things, like TV shows, music, and a tankful of nostalgia fuel. The stars of the show were, Carlos Sainz, Lando Norris, Zak Brown, Andreas Seidl, and introducing the breakout star, the MCL35.

How is the situation at McLaren F1?

Admittedly, the overall situation is a little bleak, with several countries in lockdown and the United Kingdom sorely. affected. However, the likes of McLaren and several other UK-based teams are doing their level best to aid health services. The drivers themselves rarely venture out, unless it is for emergency supply runs.

Meanwhile, neither of the two are turning to couch potatoes while confined to their homes. Instead, they are still training and keeping themselves fit. This is because they need to be in peak condition and well-prepared. In the unlikely event that the F1 season kicks off, they need to be ready to tackle the season.

However, the team is worried about the financial repercussions of the COVID-19 outbreak on F1. According to team boss Zak Brown, there is a real danger of a few teams being forced to pull out. The worst-hit will be the backmarkers and a couple of midfield teams. With no races, sponsors cannot pay the F1 teams, owing to the nature of their contractual obligations

To make matters worse, there is also the dreaded 2021 season, which demands major car development. This is largely because the new regulations come into force around the time. To prevent such a situation from occurring, teams are urging F1 to lower the budget cap in order to help the smaller teams in the midst of this global crisis.
