McLaren F1 CEO Zak Brown is known for his bets in the world of racing. However, while he was in Austin for the United States Grand Prix, he struck an agreement with professional golfer Ian Poulter to give him the keys to an F1 car if he can help him improve his golf skills.
This isn’t the first time that Brown has agreed to give the keys to a car as part of a deal. Earlier this season, he agreed to give Daniel Ricciardo a chance to drive his idol, Dale Earnhardt’s car, if he managed to score a podium. And, as fate would have it, Ricciardo won the Italian GP and drove the Earnhardt’s car at the recent United States GP.

McLaren’s Zak Brown agrees to another bet this year
While the McLaren boss was in the States, he went golfing with Lando Norris and Poulter. Later, Poulter wanted to help Brown improve his game in golf and in exchange wished for an F1 drive if he managed to do so.

He wrote on Twitter, “As you love to set goals…if I can get you to shoot under 78 can I get a run out in the F1 car???.” To which Zak replied, “That is a deal!”
How did Daniel Ricciardo feel after winning Zak’s bet?
When the Australian won the Italian Grand Prix, the F1 community was waiting to see him driver Earnhardt’s car as Brown had promised him following the United States Grand Prix, the McLaren boss stayed true to his word.

After being behind the wheel of the iconic 1984 Chevrolet, Daniel said as quoted by Autosport, “The noise, smashing gears, the driving position – everything’s quite unique.”And it’s Dale’s car – one of my all-time heroes, so that was surreal. Good fun.”
“And I think to do it here as well – if we had rented a private track somewhere in England, I don’t know, it wouldn’t have had the same effect. So I’m really grateful that Zak flew it out here,” Ricciardo explained.
