Mclaren’s team boss, Zak Brown has spoken about how teams in Formula One were politically stronger with the previous Governing body that overlooked F1. A new Governing body coming will help Mclaren find their ” sweet spot” on the grid.
The sport of Formula One has made a Concorde agreement to see that there is greater political parity within all the teams on the F1 grid.

McLaren will be helped
In an interview with Autosport, Brown said, “The governance is better, it gives more power to Formula 1 and the FIA as opposed to the teams, because the teams with all the political power, with the previous governance, were able to better keep things shaped around their agenda. I think that gets neutralised.”

“The revenue distribution didn’t make a big difference to us, but it’s going to make the sport more competitive.”
“While we now have the ability to now be a big team, because we’re running at the budget cap, it’s also brought more competition from behind. We now have a better shot to catch the guys in front of us, but we need to pay attention.”
The Rise to the top
The Woking-based team has slowly and steadily had an upward trajectory in success on the F1 grid, they finished third in the constructor’s championship with 202 points and even scoring 2 podiums in the same season.

With a budget cap being introduced this year, the team believes they can be more competitive with other teams, Brown commented,

“The new era of Formula 1 plays right into our sweet spot,” The budget cap, we’ve had to reduce our spend a bit, but not to the same level as the other three that were significantly outspending us.”

With a strong line up coming in 2021, with the likes of Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris, who sure to bring more success to this orange team, fans can’t wait to see them back on track as the season opener is set for 28th March.
