The last race in Monza ended on a fairly anticlimactic note.

With the safety car in the lead, Max Verstappen finished first, followed by Charles Leclerc and Mercedes’ George Russell completing the podium places.

McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo was making good time before he faced some engine issues. This was the reason for which the safety car was prompted.

Despite the win, Red Bull was dead set against the way the race ended as it went against the “rules” that were agreed on between the FIA and F1 teams.

Ferrari Boss, Mattia Binotto, publicly discussed his unhappiness with the way things ended on race day. He didn’t shy away from stating that the sport deserved better than FIA. He said, “The FIA changed a lot in that area but I think they still need more experience and they need to do a better job because F1 deserves a better job.”

Post the race day, the FIA released a statement. They clarify that they were trying to revive Ricciardo‘s car and going forward, they were unable to put it in neutral and push it on the escape route.

Amid all this, McLaren’s team principal Andreas Seidl disagreed with Ferrari. He said, “The FIA clarified with their statement, their position that from my point of view, I couldn’t have identified anything in that regard.”

After the race, Seidl exclaimed, “Mixed feelings today in Monza. The positive side is that the pace we had this weekend and throughout the race was very encouraging, particularly given warm weather and a low-downforce configuration haven’t favored us in the past.”
