Jos Verstappen, the father of the defending F1 Champion has opened up on his son, Max Verstappen, and his astronomical fee. Jos is of the opinion that Max is currently the best driver in F1.

Max Verstappen has recently signed a whopping $50 million deal with Red Bull. This has come as a reward for winning his first F1 Championship last year. Not only this but also the Austrian team seems determined to keep the brilliant Dutchman in their team for a longer time.

Talking about Max’s huge paygrade, Jos Verstappen conveyed, “You’ve all seen the big implications Red Bull has made this winter, and Formula 1 itself is on the rise. I’m not saying it’s just because of Max, but he definitely plays a big role. Max deserves it too. He’s the best driver on the market right now.”

Red Bull and Max Verstappen, a match made in heaven?

Max Verstappen made his debut with Red Bull’s sister team, Toro Rosso (now Alpha Tauri) back in 2015. Back-to-back brilliant performances made the Dutchman grab him the main Red Bull seat a year later. Max replaced Daniil Kvyat, and that was the start of a great journey together for him and Red Bull.

The 50-year-old former driver further stated on junior Verstappen’s relationship with his current team, “We’ve been with the team since 2016 and you can’t build that relationship anywhere else.”

The Milton Keynes-based team managed to make a dent in Mercedes’ dominance for the first time since the post Hybrid era. Thanks to Max Verstappen and his brilliant drive. Apart from this, the 24-year-old is now a global superstar. His sheer performance convinced big companies to invest in the Austrian team.
