Jos Verstappen and Michael Schumacher were teammates during their spell at Benetton in 1994. The duo worked together for two years in Formula 1 and the seven-time world champion and the Dutch competed in eight races together. Verstappen left Benetton in 1996 but the two drivers remained in contact and shared a good relationship even afterward.
In 2015, , Schumacher’s son, Mick, completed his first season in ADAC Formula 4, racing for Van Amersfoort Racing. He finished that season P10 but the German needed advice for further progress through the junior categories. And Jos Verstappen lent a helping hand to the young German.
Verstappen Sr revealed how he once advised Mick Schumacher’s mother, Corinna, on her son’s career.

When asked if he had been following the development of rookie driver Mick Schumacher, the Dutch recalled an important conversation with his mother and said, “I met Corinna after the first Formula 4 year and she asked me which way to go. “

Mick Schumacher better than Nikita Mazepin: Verstappen
With both drivers in their first season in Formula 1, the 49-year-old believes Mick has a cut above Mazepin. The young German has a better average grid position and average finish position than his Russian teammate this year.
