Lewis Hamilton Vs Max Verstappen has been a rarity in the current season. The two world champions are not competing on the same level as they are split by the cars they drive. However, the tussle between the two in the previous season was something the fans will not forget anytime soon.

The fans at Silverstone booed the Dutch world champion during his post-qualifying interview at Silverstone. However, the booing does not come as a surprise as Verstappen’s ardent fans booed Hamilton at the 2021 Dutch GP. Hamilton received the same reaction at the 2021 Hungarian GP as well, such was the rivalry between the two.

Hamilton, however, did not agree with the reception Verstappen received after finishing second behind Sainz in qualifying. The Mercedes man said, “I think we’re better than that. I would say we don’t need to do booing. We’ve got such great fans, our sporting fans, they feel emotions up and down. But I definitely don’t agree with booing.”

And added, “But I really do appreciate the support that I have here. And maybe some of them are feeling the pain from last year, still.”

Hamilton is spot-on while connecting the booing to the events of the previous season. The fans are perhaps still sour about Hamilton’s narrow defeat to the Red Bull man.

Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton do not agree on the booing aspect

Verstappen’s stance on booing hasn’t changed since last year when he commented on Hamilton’s reception. He did not see it as a big issue and still feels the same as he said, “It was a bit disappointing because I couldn’t really understand Billy [Monger, conducting the post-session interviews]. It was a bit of a problem.”
