Eddie Jordan says Verstappen will beat Schumacher and Hamilton's records—agree or just wishful thinking?

What is common between all the F1 world champions so far? Over the last 75 years, motorsport has seen endless champions who are once-in-a-generation talents. But a few names shine the brightest in the Hall of Fame, like – Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, and Max Verstappen. You might wonder, why is Max part of this elite club already. Well, it is because of his unprecedented skills and unidirectional concentration that sets him apart.

Max Verstappen has been in the sport for 10 seasons and owns three titles. He could go on for 10 more seasons and break all records ever created. To be honest, if the Dutchman does that, it wouldn’t be very surprising. Verstappen could go on to win a total of ten world championships or maybe more. At least, that’s what the former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan thinks (and believes).

Speaking with David Coulthard, Jordan stated: “If everything stays well with Max – mentally, physically, and everything to do with the car, Max is going to hit ten world championships. Of course, physical and mental well-being will be of utmost importance. Followed by the speed of the car, he’d be driving. And if everything is perfect to the tee, nothing could stop the ‘Flying Dutchman’. Another advantage that Verstappen has is his age, he’s still young. More importantly, he’s the fastest driver on the track.

So, “Lewis needs to get on his bike and hurry up and get number eight. Because it’s soon going to be passed up by Max in any case,” concluded the expert. Some may say, that Eddie Jordan is dreaming. But if you look at his theory from an expert’s point of view, he might not be so wrong. There are a few reasons among the many, that’ve made Jordan declare such a thing.

Max Verstappen has already shattered multiple records set by Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher

Since the day he’s placed his foot in the paddock, the Red Bull star has broken multiple records. He was just 17 and became the youngest driver ever to compete in F1. That’s not all, as time progressed and Max Verstappen found himself in the top spots, he became the youngest race leader, pole sitter, and so on. In 2021 he became the first Dutch driver to win the world champion. And since that day, Max Verstappen has only grown as an F1 racer.

What’s your perspective on:

Eddie Jordan says Verstappen will beat Schumacher and Hamilton's records—agree or just wishful thinking?

Have an interesting take?

In 2023, Verstappen set a new record by winning 19 out of 22 races. Before 2023, Max Verstappen had already set a record by winning fifteen out of 22 races in 2022. This broke the previous record of thirteen race wins in a season, held by Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher. That same year he became the highest-scoring driver in a season. With 575 points he clinched his 3rd title without any resistance. He further broke Schumacher’s record at the 2023 Japanese Grand Prix by winning his 13th consecutive race, starting from pole position. Moreover, Verstappen also broke Hamilton’s record for consecutive points with 1008.

It is an interesting chain, Hamilton broke Schumacher’s records and in return, Verstappen is breaking Hamilton’s records! And the show isn’t over for Max Verstappen. He is staying for a few more years. Maybe his team could change, but will his fierceness subside? The prospects are low. And could Eddie Jordan’s predictions turn into reality? Only time can tell.
