Carlos Sainz Jr. has always been a force to reckon with. As a junior driver for Red Bull, he raced in both British and Euroseries Formula 3 championships. Despite Carlos’s performance, Max Verstappen beat him to the seat at the Red Bull F1 team. Recently, however, Sainz announced he will be joining the Italian manufacturer’s Scuderia Ferrari for the 2021 season.

Now that Sainz has decided to move to Ferrari, he will have a very competitive car to race with. He can now wreak havoc on drivers like Max Verstappen who is considered one of the quickest drivers on the grid. At Torro Rosso, Carlos almost consistently matched Verstappen’s pace with less than one-tenth of a second to spare on average. Former driver, Pedro de la Rosa said on Formula 1 Café, “Carlos was very close to Max Verstappen and they consider him to be one of the best or perhaps the best F1 drivers at the moment.”

The Dutchman was one of the youngest drivers to have competed in Formula 1. He holds the record for the youngest-ever driver to win a Grand Prix since 2016. He is the son of former Dutch F1 driver, Jos Verstappen.

His driving pace and the fact that he finished 6th last season despite a slower car, is evidence of his brilliant skills. “Sainz is better than some people think”, De La Rosa added. He also hopes that Fernando Alonso returns to F1 and that the two Spanish drivers go on to conquer F1 races. “Spanish drivers are going to make Verstappen very tough”, Pedro commented.

Pedro himself has driven from teams like Jaguar, McLaren, and Sauber. He also said that “all stars line up” for Sainz who is young but experienced. “If I were Mattia Binotto, I would seriously consider having a Lecler-Sainz partnership“, the Spanish driver said earlier this month.

Sainz is the son of renowned Spanish Rally Driver and motorsport legend, Carlos Sainz Sr. He has a very charismatic personality to complement his driving talents. Carlos may be entering Charles Leclerc’s home next season, but there is a good chance he might eventually become Ferrari’s favorite. It will certainly be interesting to see how team dynamics shape up at the Scuderia.
