Lewis Hamilton, for the first time since 2021 will start a race from the pole. Hamilon’s record-breaking pole position on a single track brought his tally up to 104. Hamilton’s pole might have given the Brit and Mercedes some hope for the race in Hungary. However, despite starting the race from the front, Hamilton is not the favorite. Like every other race weekend, Max Verstappen is the favorite, such is the dominance of the RB19 and the Dutchman this season. Despite all the scales tipping in Verstappen’s favor, the Dutchman is throwing in the towel.
Verstappen uncharacteristically threw in the towel ahead of the Hungarian GP race. The Dutchman believes the track conditions and the condition of the RB19 during qualifying will make it extremely difficult to overtake Hamilton. Verstappen revealed this opinion by speaking to the media, as quoted by Formula Passion.
“The race? It will be very hot, it will not be easy to overtake,” said Max ahead of the 2023 Hungarian GP.

Ardent rivals Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen see eye to eye as they wage war against the FIA
The FIA has changed the weekend format with the tire compounds as an initiative toward decreasing F1’s negative environmental impact. “The format change is really not nice. Maybe they should look at the trashed rain tires instead of stealing the fans’ track action time,” said Hamilton.
Verstappen is of the same opinion. He said, “This qualifying format is certainly very interesting, for the show it is a good thing. If we had been able to shoot with the normal format, the Alfa Romeos wouldn’t have been so close, for example. I prefer the old format, but as Hamilton says the important thing is that on Fridays we can do laps for the public.”
