Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen gave us an epic battle last season for the championship title. The saga will not be forgotten soon, and the same goes for the incidents that took place throughout the season. And recalling last season’s incident in Baku, Verstappen tells his version of the events.
The race that could’ve defined the championship in the early stages of the season, but luck would not have it. At last season’s Azerbaijan GP, Hamilton could’ve gained massive points advantage, but Baku always likes a different winner. And the red-flagged plagued race served up an epic to an already exciting season.

Verstappen’s RB16B shunted into the wall on the main straight, a second occurrence of the race. After the restart, Hamilton running in second got a better start than leader Perez, but locked up and went off track. This incident put Hamilton from a podium finish to absolute last in the race. However, Verstappen was unaware of the entire situation, as he was in the medical center, not allowed to look at his phone.

The Red Bull man narrated his side of the story to Perez as he could not watch the restart. He said, “I didn’t what was going on at the time I was in the medical center and I had no idea and no info but at one point I could hear a guys breaking (mimics screeching) and everybody go “yaaaah” like this and the phone was like (mimics vibration) 100 messages and then you were in the lead.”
This was a moment the Mercedes man will look back with much more disappointment.
The W13 porpoising is costing Lewis Hamilton race time

The excessive porpoising was evident on the streets of Baku all weekend throughout the grid. After complaining about back pain the entire weekend, Hamilton could’ve sustained an injury due to bouncing W13.
The Canadian Grand Prix is on the calendar for the first time since 2019. But the Briton might have to wait another year to race in Montreal because of the back pain. Hamilton spoke after his race, “I can’t express the pain you experience, particularly on the straight here. And at the end, you are just praying for it to end.”

With the race in a week’s time, Hamilton might not be fit enough to race in the Canadian GP. And this might make matters worse as Mercedes will have to resort to a reserve driver and hope for the best.
