The qualifying at the Italian Grand Prix has just concluded and guess who took the pole? Well, it’s none other than Max Verstappen of Red Bull. This is the second pole position for the Austrian team this season. The Red Bull driver finished the qualification in P1 followed by championship leader Charles Leclerc in P2.

The rain-drenched Q3 saw Lando Norris take in P3, followed by Haas’s Kevin Magnussen in P4 closely. A much-improved performance saw Fernando Alonso set himself in P5 while another brilliant run saw Daniel Ricciardo at P6. In P7, we have Sergio Perez of Red Bull followed by Valtteri Bottas in P8. The last driver to take part in Q3 was Aston Martin’s Sebastian Vettel in P9.

What happened in F1 Q1 and Q2?

The rain didn’t help Mercedes at all as both the Silver Arrows were out in Q2. The German team’s Q3 streak was over as George Russell finished the rain-soaked qualification in P11 while his teammate Lewis Hamilton could manage only P13. Haas’s Mick Schumacher to start the sprint from P12, while Guanyu Zhou and Lance Stroll finished the Q2 in P14 and P15, respectively.

It was another disastrous week for Carlos Sainz as the Ferrari driver lost his rear and hit the barrier in Q2. Albon met the same fate in Q1 when his brake ducts caught fire. This means Sainz to start tomorrow’s Sprint race from P10 and Albon from P20.

None of the AlphaTauri drivers could make it past Q1 as Pierre Gasly ended in P17 and Yuki Tsunoda in P16. Nicholas Latifi and Esteban Ocon filled up the P18 and P19 positions to conclude the qualifying sessions.
