The United States Grand Prix is going to serve some special spectacle to the F1 fans as the two title contenders are lining up alongside each other on the front row. Seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton put up a brilliant lap yesterday to get a provisional pole, but Red Bull prodigy Max Verstappen snatched the pole from his rival in the very last moment of Q3. He was two-tenths of a second faster than the British defending World Champion. Now, fans have not forgotten previous clashes between the Championship protagonists at Silverstone and Monza earlier in the season. They are speculating some fireworks might go off again at the first left-hander in the COTA, the widest opening bend amongst all the races this year.

Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen took two different approaches to answer this question

Fans were cheering loudly as Lewis Hamilton crossed the finishing line yesterday and put a formidable lap time in the Quali yesterday. Undoubtedly, Lewis himself also reckoned he would get the pole position in the US GP but then Verstappen proved him wrong. So, it goes without a question that the two of them will give it their all to grab first place in the Driver’s Standings in today’s race. And that means we cannot rule out a possible collision between the two as well.

As the two of them are starting from the front of the grid, they will touch upon the opening bend at the Circuit of the Americas together—and it is infamous for having caused some clashes in the past. Hamilton acknowledged the fans’ theory about a possible collision by saying, “I hope we make it through turn one and we get a good race,” said Hamilton.

It is all fun and games. We are going to have fun tomorrow, and give it everything as you would expect. It is no real difference to any other part of the season.”

While Lewis took a positive approach and said he hopes he won’t have a collision, Max Verstappen almost seemed to take offense at the question.

I don’t see why we have to keep bringing this up,” the Dutch racer objected. “It is not like we are the only ones who have touched in this sport.

“These things happen, unfortunately. But we are on the front row again and everyone is just expecting a great race and as drivers, that is what we expect, too. We will be professional.”
