When we talk about generational talents, only a handful of names come to mind and Max Verstappen is among the elite list. The Dutchman is an absolute menace to his rivals, including his teammate. His consistency and relentless approach is unparalleled. However, no one driver is perfect and the Red Bull man is often suggested to learn a thing or two from other drivers, past or present. However, we hardly come across a suggestion of Verstappen being asked to learn from his Mexican teammate Sergio Perez.

Ralf Schumacher, former F1 driver turned Sky Sports pundit, made this bizarre suggestion. The German made this suggestion, as quoted by Motorsport Netherlands, soon after Perez’s disastrous Monaco GP.

Ralf said, “In Monaco, he (Sergio Perez) was the better driver. Max [Verstappen] should see this as an opportunity to learn things from his teammate. Max has a very aggressive style and has done well in the past with heavier cars. However, the new concept suits Sergio more. If a driver is good at saving tires, he can also get more out of the car. Max should try to adapt Sergio’s driving style to apply certain parts of the circuit and maybe slow down one or two corners,” said the German analyst. [Translated by Google]

Despite the suggestion from Ralf Schumacher, Helmut Marko believes Max Verstappen is a class apart

Helmut Marko is, and always has been, a Max Verstappen cheerleader. The Austrian has praised the prodigal son on several occasions and hasn’t minced his words as well. So after Verstappen has proved his doubters wrong, Marko felt the need to serve a reminder and make an eye-opening, potentially insulting, statement regarding his favorite Red Bull driver.

“A few years ago, I compared him to Senna and faced ridicule. Now, the naysayers are running out of arguments. Max has not only matured as a driver but also as an individual. His extraordinary qualifying lap in Monaco is reminiscent of Senna. Max excels in all conditions,” said Marko with a puffed chest.

Additionally, Marko also admitted, “Max never really saw any danger in Pérez.

Many might view Marko’s complete disregard for Perez as disrespectful. However, the Red Bull advisor doesn’t care as long as he is putting his point across. A point that is completely opposite from Ralf Schumacher’s suggestion and a point which the majority will agree with.
