When it comes to major fan bases of Formula 1 around the world, the United States has lately become one that we can not stop hearing about. The North American country gained great interest in F1 in recent times, all thanks to Liberty Media and Netflix. However, what is the exact number of fans that follow F1 in the United States? According to Christian Horner, Formula 1 now has a fanbase of over 50 million in the third most populated country.

Keeping in mind the huge fanbase, Red Bull Racing recently launched their 2023 livery in New York, United States. Moreover, the Austrian executive further shared that Red Bull has 72 percent of fans out of those 50 million, which is a staggering 36 million alone.

As the Milton-Keynes-based team unveiled RB19, in the presence of champion Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez, reserve driver Daniel Ricciardo and Lewis Hamilton’s close ally, Horner’s assumption gave a new dimension to the motorsport industry in the US. However, Horner’s revelation was certainly a surprise for other motorsport drivers. Renowned NASCAR driver Parker Kligerman took to Twitter to share his words on the shared numbers.

Kligerman wrote, “Amidst all the excitement about @redbullracing USA launch. Christian Horner dropped the biggest bomb in @RACERmag article. 50 million US F1 fans?”

As soon as the NASCAR driver tweeted this, the post got filled with comments which put the actual figure estimation by Horner in doubt.

“This is the first time we have launched our season outside of the UK and the first time any F1 team has launched in the USA. The growth of our sport in America cannot be ignored, there are over 50 million F1 fans in the USA, of which 72% follow us, and the way the fans have embraced our team here has been very special to see,” the post further stated.

However, there isn’t any statistical data or report available that says the exact number of F1 fans in the United States, or Red Bull in that order. Interestingly, the viewership of F1 races in the US is quite low when compared to a massive 50 million fan base, just in case.
