Max Verstappen Reveals Best Footballer On the F1 Grid Amidst the Likes of Charles Leclerc & Pierre Gasly

Max Verstappen doesn’t make a lot of off-track camera appearances. So it is only natural for the fans to get excited when he answers questions asked by them. The world champion recently sat down with the Sky Sports F1 team to do the same. In one of his answers, he revealed an interesting detail about an F1 colleague who is an extremely talented footballer.

Turns out, apart from racing, Fernando Alonso is talented in other sports as well. The Spaniard is an F1 world champion and 24 hours LeMans winner as well. But as it turns out, the Alpine driver is a pretty talented football player too, and that’s Max Verstappen’s opinion. An opinion that stands true as the Spaniard took part in the charity football match in Monaco as well.

So when the Sky Sports F1 journalist asked Verstappen, “Who’s the best at football on the grid?” and added, “I’ve seen you play actually, you’re pretty handy!” The Red Bull world champion pushing past the compliment replied, “I think, actually, Fernando. Yeah, I think he’s pretty good. Yeah, I’ve only played with him, like, once or twice. But I think he definitely has the most talent.”

The Spaniard is as talented as they come, especially with racing, but even football is Alonso’s forte! And according to Max, Alonso is extremely talented, as he impressed the Dutchman in just a couple of games. Something in his blood perhaps, because Spain is a football hub, and the people there are extremely passionate about the sport.

Monaco: The toughest circuit for Max Verstappen

During the interview, Max answers a question from a fan asking him about the toughest track. To which Max replies, “I think probably Monaco. Just because you cannot make a mistake. If you lock up a tiny bit in the wrong place at the wrong time, you’re in the wall. So I think probably Monaco.”

A statement rang true in the free practice sessions as ex-teammate Ricciardo had an incident. And a lockup for Max during the first practice session at turn one, which saw him go off-track.

Leclerc also made the same mistake as the two championship challengers were finding the limits of the track so they could push themselves to gain the advantage over the other. Now, Max will have to overcome the ‘toughest’ circuit to extend his lead at the top.
