The 2022 F1 season has all been just Max Verstappen’s show. Whoever might start from P1 or claim the pole, it has mostly been the Dutchman who took the chequered flag. As Verstappen is on his way to finishing the ever-dominant season, he doesn’t think anyone else has helped him on the way to success.

Talking about this, Verstappen conveyed this during an interview with Time+Tide watches. When asked if Lewis Hamilton has helped him to be a better driver just like tennis sensation Roger Federer mentioned Rafael Nadal’s importance, the Dutch driver stated, “You know there’s a bit of this kind of where you push yourself maybe even more to the edge.”

But I think it was always important, that’s what my dad,[Jos Verstappen] also told me that you don’t need anyone else you know to push yourself to limit. You should always push yourself and ask yourself how can you be better, how can I do better, and that’s how I grew up. So I don’t think anyone else has pushed me to another level.”

But of course, when you have amazing and great competition, you might find half a ten more or whatever. But you always try, or at least I try to find a half a ten by myself. I just keep questioning how can I do things different or how can I actually improve. It should be, I think, the main target,” concluded the two-time world champion.

Max Verstappen surpassed Lewis Hamilton’s record

Calling Max Verstappen’s 2022 season dominant would be an understatement, for sure. The Dutchman not only picked up the world title with four races to go but also won the most races in a single season in Formula 1.

When it comes to breaking Hamilton’s record, the Dutchman broke the Mercedes man’s record of 11 victories in a single season. Moreover, Verstappen didn’t stop there as he went on to break Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher’s records as well.

Hamilton raked up 11 season victories in 2015, 2018, 2019, and 2020 seasons. However, the seven-time world champion failed to reach Vettel and Schumacher’s record of 13 wins. The German duo set their 13 wins records in 2013 and 2004, respectively.

It was Max Verstappen who not only broke the record of all-time race wins but is also looking for more. Verstappen won 14 races so far in 20 rounds. With two races to go, there are chances he might pick one or more wins to set the ultimate record.
