Max Verstappen left Lewis Hamilton and his fans in shock last year after he overtook the Mercedes driver in the final lap of the Abu Dhabi GP. Sir Lewis was on the cusp of greatness, unmatched by no other in F1. However, it wasn’t meant to be as Michael Masi’s shocking Safety Car call left Hamilton and fans fuming.

Things have been a lot different since then. While Lewis Hamilton is struggling to win a race this season, Max Verstappen can win his second successive title this week. The Red Bull driver has been on fire all season long, winning 11 races in the season so far.

Seeing this, Hamilton’s ex-teammate and former World Champion Nico Rosberg has fired a warning to the Mercedes ace. Rosberg believes Verstappen can dominate in F1 for a decade, similar to what Lewis Hamilton did.

Rosberg, speaking to the PA news agency, stated, “With his skill and the way Red Bull are going at the moment, it is not out of the question that Max could get near Lewis’ records.”

“Max was incredible last year, and he has continued that form this season.”

Rosberg further added how Max had improved on his driving since last year. He said, “He has removed the errors that he had in the beginning of his career, and he has dialed back on the overly aggressive moments, too.”

“Together with Lewis, Max is the best driver on the grid. It is going to be an incredible decade for him in the sport.”

There has been no match between the two this year with Hamilton a massive 167 points behind Max Verstappen. However, the former McLaren man will be itching to stage a fightback and challenge Max again next year.

“It’s not easy,” says Lewis Hamilton as he deals with this year’s setback

While his W-13 car might not match the pace of Red Bull’s RB-18, Lewis Hamilton claims it’s not been easy to adapt to not fighting for race wins. The Silver Arrows driver said he’s had “great difficulty” dealing with the change in mindset this season.

Lewis said“I think it’s really just about taking time to sit back, reflect and figure out what you can do better.”

He added, “As athletes, we’re super determined, we don’t like to lose, we don’t like to fail. Failure is not an option. But sometimes you do, and that’s part of the process. But it’s not easy.”

With no wins so far, Hamilton will like to rebuild again and start by winning the upcoming Singapore GP. Lewis has previously won this race 4 times and is the second most successful driver here after Sebastian Vettel.
