Max Verstappen might have made it look too easy but he’s had a hard-working first half of 2023. To recover from that, the Dutchman is making full use of the F1 summer break to unwind in style. With his girlfriend, Kelly Piquet, and her daughter, Penelope, he is traversing the picturesque islands of Italy and France. But the grind hasn’t left his side yet as boyfriend duties are prevailing over chilling time.

Just last week, the trio started their excursion on the beautiful island of Sardinia in Italy. As they raked in the sun at the beach, Verstappen performed dad duties for Penelope. He carried her on dodgy parts of the beach, then walked on the sand holding her hand and playing with her. Now as they have moved from Italy to France, boyfriend duties for Piquet have been added to Verstappen’s list as well.

As of today, the celebrity couple and Penelope, along with a couple of friends are holidaying in Bonifacio, Corsica. The Brazilian model has posted a carousel on her Instagram account with highlights from her seaside vacation. If you look at the penultimate slide, she is laying on a surfboard. Now, here’s the funny part – she is really just laying on it while Verstappen, performs boyfriend duties by dragging her along as he drives some sort of an underwater scooter through the fresh blue waters of Corsica.

Red Bull to the championship and Piquet across scenic waters – dragging seems to be a specialty of Verstappen’s. Now, moving to a different dimension of this – this is the 2nd time that the Dutchman has embraced the water in 2 weeks.

The first location for relaxation for Verstappen was Sardinia. He’s embraced the beach, had lunch at La Scogliera, a luxury seaside restaurant on La Maddalena island, and also taken a nice long swim with Piquet and his mates.

Surprisingly, instead of opting for the clear blue waters of La Maddalena, he chose a swimming pool on the deck of a hotel, probably. Photos of that instance were leaked and he is seen striking some poses with his friend before cannonballing into the pool for a much-need cooldown.

The Dutchman sure loves being in the water. This might also explain why the nearly-always wet Spa-Francorchamps is his favorite circuit to race on.
